Another great tournament ran by the
Concord Village Lion’s Club as 195 teams and their families showed up
for the 15th Annual Fish 4 Sight Tournament here on Truman Lake. This
year Tom Renaud, Tournament Director, stated that they have gone over
the $500,000 mark on money brought in for the Charity. What a great
accomplishment for these fine folks as they put in countless hours to
make this tournament one of if not the best Charity Tournament held
here at Truman Lake.

Paul Climer doing the auction
The festivities started off early Friday evening with refreshments and
music during registration under their big tent here at Sterrett Creek
Marina. This lasted well into the late evening as everyone gathered
together for a good time. During the weigh-in, each team and their
families were treated to some beverages and a good meal after a long
day on the water. After the weigh-in numerous items were auctioned off
and an abundance of attendance prizes were given away.

Weigh-in Trailer
A week of cold fronts passing through prior to the tournament seemed
to have displaced the fish off the banks. The 195 teams were met with
38-degree temperatures in the morning for take-off. There wasn’t a lot
of talk about fish catching prior to the tournament and it showed when
weigh-in time came. Only two 5-fish limits were brought to the scales
the rest of the field mainly had a fish or two and most with zero. I
wasn’t able to get a lot of information from the top places but here
is what I did get.

1st Place winners
The tough conditions didn’t stop the husband and wife team of James
Shepherd and Anita Shepherd from Topeka Kansas as they shocked the
crowd with their 5-fish catch. They weighed-in 5 quality fish for a
total weight of 17.46 Lbs. They reported catching their fish on
spinnerbaits in the Osage arm of the lake. Their fish came from 2-3
feet of water on 3/8 and ½ ounce spinnerbaits. James and Anita stated
that the blades didn’t seem to make a big difference as they caught on
Willow leaf and Colorado blades. This couple not only took first place
overall but also took first in the Guy’s and Gal’s division. First
Place overall won them a brand new boated worth over $10,000 and the
Guy’s and Gal’s netted them another $300. This team is sponsored by
The Boat House.

Big Bass winners
Big Bass of the tournament went to the team of Dave Settlemoir and
Gary Ruble from St. Louis Missouri. They brought a fish to the scales
that weighed 5.11 Lbs. Dave and Gary reported that the fish came on a
lizard about 11:00 in the morning. The fish was caught out of 4-6 feet
of water around the 83 bridge. The team is sponsored by McLains Corner
Bar.

2nd Guy’s & Gal’s and 13th Overall
Taking Second Place in the Guy’s and Gal’s and 13th overall was the
Husband and Wife team of Bob & Suzanne Kawelaske from Oakville
Missouri. Their fish came on Carolina rigged lizards off of shallow
points and in the back of pockets. They fished the lower Osage all day
dragging their Green Pumpkin/Chart lizards in 3-5 feet of water. They
weighed-in 3 fish for 6.19 Lbs. Bob & Suzanne have been fishing this
tournament for 12 years now and for their day on the water they took
home $200 for the Guys & Gals and $350 for 13th Place.
Everyone mark your calendars for next year’s tournament which will be
held on April 29, 2006 and I will see you there. Below are the top 10
