FISH FOR SIGHT NEWS

4/28/14

The Concord Village Lions Club could not have had a better weekend for the 24th annual open buddy bass tournament. The event held out of Bucksaw Marina on Truman Reservoir, the only facility in the state large enough, was a huge success again this year. 215 teams signed up to fish this year's event. 87 teams weighed 292 fish for a total weight of 779.38 pounds in their quest to secure this year's bragging rights along with a total purse of $21,150.00.

Jim Moritz (the owner of Bucksaw) and his staff could not have done a better job of preparing for the event. There is a very good reason why this tournament has been at Bucksaw since 2008. The Lions Club volunteers converged on the site Friday around noon and by 5:00 pm that evening started the traditional fish fry with all the trimmings. Thanks to Syberg's Restraunt our Lions Club team had enough food to feed over 400 people all while being entertained by the country tunes of Bob Marty.

The Saturday morning take-off was met by bright and sunny skies with calm waters. It went off without a hitch. A few showers during the day only served to enhance the fishing. It's true that not all teams brought fish to the scales, although almost to the last team everyone caught fish. The participants and a lot of family members enjoyed the full scale BBQ, again prepared and served by our Lions Club team while watching the stage and tally boards as bag after bag of fish were brought to the scales. A good time was had by all.
